Students are proficient in the theory and application of skills essential for knowledge representation in evolving technology environments, in any chosen area of specialization.

III.a. Students analyze, organize, and describe various formats of information objects.

- LIS6671 Organization of Knowledge: The History and Application of Metadata

This paper addresses the history and application of metadata within our digital resources, and how it affects artifacts, materials, images, text, and other digitally-translated materials within databases and repositories.

III.b. Students identify and apply best practices in the use of different technologies for knowledge representation.

- LIS5341 Digital Curation: Report on the Functionality of a Digital Curation Tool

This report outlines the Library of Congress's BagIt Tool as a curation tool for digital objects, and how the functionality of this tool aligns with and supports the standards and functionalities of the Open Archival Information System.

- LIS6773 Data Practices and Management: Describing the Data Repository and Datasets​

​​​

This data repository and dataset description cover the World Data Center for Climate Sciences and one of its many datasets archived within the repository. The goal of this assignment was to understand the informational levels and sections of a repository and an existing dataset, and to show proper dissection of both on a data management level.

- LIS 5020 Foundations of Library Information and Sciences: Managers of Resources Poster

​

This poster presents the idea of physical and digital librarianship to legal librarianship and the benefits of a balanced subscription and practical use of a multitude of resource formats and types that would help their libraries evolve with current trends and expectations of information institutions.
